India Vs New Zealand 4th ODI: The Kiwis get a sweet Revenge

India Vs New Zealand 4th ODI was a really short one. This time it was India who go to bat first. Shubhman Gill, the hero of the Under 19 World Cup 2018 was playing his debut match but fate had something else planned for the match. Both the openers Shikhar Dhawan and the captain Rohit Sharma were gotten out by Trent Boult, the main Kiwi bowler. Rohit scored 7 runs while Dhawan scored 13.

In came the debutant Shubhman Gill who was again caught and bowled by Boult. This is how the innings was. None of the batsmen were able to score much runs out there. It might have been because of the pitch or it might have been the over-confidence that had developed after India won the series by winning the 3rd ODI. India were successfully bowled out for 92 runs in which Boult took 5 wickets, De Grandhomme took 3, Todd Astle took 2 while Neesham took 1.

New Zealand upon batting finished the match pretty quickly. taylor scored 37 runs and Nicholls scored 30 runs. Guptill and williamson were the only batsmen whom the Indian pacer Bhuvneshaw Kumar was able to get out. It was a sweet revenge for the New Zealand players and one loss India will remember till the World Cup 2019 as they would not want to repeat such a  match at such important stage of all. It also shows how our team performs without the 2 most experienced players: M.S. Dhoni and Virat Kohli out of which people want Dhoni to retire. We can certainly say if Dhoni were on crease India would not have had gotten out so early. the loss doesn’t mean that big in terms of India’s ranking in ODi but certainly tells us that if the upper order fails, the lower order is not able to lead.

India have till now won the series and are 3-1 lead in the 5 match ODI series after which they face New Zealand in 3 T20,s. The final ODI will be held on 3rd February live o the Star Sports Network. Tune in to watch.
