Zomato is a leading home food delivery portal in India. They are seriously achieving great employer goals by providing 26 weeks of parental leave to all of their employees, both men, and women. The policy is also applicable for non-birthing parents too in cases of surrogacy and adoption.
The founder of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal has said that nothing else matters to them other than helping its employees to achieve its personal as well as professional goals. He further said that a new member in the family might lead to a rise of financial problems within the family so Zomato will give $1000 for each child as an endowment.
India is one of the 13 countries in which the policy has been adopted. In a blog by Deepinder Singh, he mentioned that women find it extremely difficult to have a healthy and professional life that leads to lack of diversity across all levels of organizations. He stresses that unequal leave policies for men and women while they are welcoming a child, leads to gender disparity.
In his blog post, he stresses that even though companies want to employ women at higher levels, men always occupy them due to the low amount of women workforce. He stresses the aspect of unbalance in the male-female ratio.
In 2017, India passed the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016, which allows women to take leave for a maximum of 26 weeks. However, there is no provision for paternity leave.

Ayesha Sharma, who is in the sales department said: “This type of policy should be adopted by all other companies throughout the world for helping the employees with better work-life experience.”

Now, with its policy, Zomato has created standards and goals on how an employer should be. They should just like to be as thinking and caring like Deepinder Goyal.
