World’s Best Boyfriend is a classic coming of age romantic novel which highlights the story of two 18 year old teenagers who fall in love when they were just 10. The great thing about the novel is that the hero doesn’t fall in love with the looks of the girl but he falls in love with the person she is beneath.

This is because the girls suffers from a condition that makes her skin appear in two colors and might make her look ugly. The novel actually represents the brutal irony on how people just judge everyone on the basis of their looks and not what is within.
Still, there is a person named Dhruv who hates Aranya but can’t get her out of his mind too. Same is with Aranya. Both want to destroy each other, they hurt each other so deeply but still can’t get the thoughts of each other out of their minds. They can’t bear with the idea of the other being with someone else.
I won’t spoil the novel for you but tell you that the ending is really good and could not have been better. What the novel lacks is that just before the end, it seems to become boring. It is just a tad bit boring going towards the end but catches pace once it reaches the end.
Dhruv and Aranya’s is a refreshing story and if you are a hearthrob you are not going to remove these names from your minds. Durjoy Datta is clearly knowledgable about how today’s society works and what is famous among today’s teens aand presents it in an un-melodramatic manner which doesn’t feel cheesy for a single moment. Yes, the novel doesn’t seem cheesy once. That’s the speciality of the novel.
