The recent attack of Chamki Fever or Encephalitis has led to a lot of deaths in children and young adults. The fever is getting spread in Bihar and taking a lot of lives along with it. The worst part about it is that it doesn’t spare much time to the person it affects. It takes full control of the body and kills the person within two hours. What is Chamki Fever?
First of all, you should know that Chamki Fever is not something new. It has happened earlier in 2014 and claimed about 700 lives earlier in 2014 in the state of Bihar. It is an inflammatory condition of the brain resulting in a variety of associated symptoms. The disease causes an onset of fever with headache and most commonly seen in children and young adults between the ages 1-10.
The most common symptoms associated with Chamki Fever are confusion, delirium, headaches, high fever, seizures, coma, extreme sensitivity to light, stiff neck and back nausea. Although commonly seen in small children, the fever can happen to anyone at any age.
The name Chamki bukhar means fever condition associated with seizures. As per recent reports, the fever is spreading fast through 13 districts of Bihar including Muzaffarpur, East Champaran and Vaishali with Muzaffarpur being the worst hit out of all.
Causes
Coming to the causes of the fever, as per a report viruses are said to be the main cause of the spread of Chamki Fever. Other causes are bacterias, fungus, chemicals, parasites, toxins, and other non-infectious agents. Japanese Encephalitis Virus is said to be the main cause of AES in India.
The fever has till now taken a total of 100 lives in the state of Bihar. Well, let’s just hope people infected with the fever get necessary treatment in time to save their lives.
