During the summers, the demand and consumption of milk increase by two-fold than in the winters. This vast gap between demand and supply leads to suppliers using unfair means in order to make a profit. In a recent raid at a dairy, the plant has revealed that the packaged milk you are drinking is a concoction of milk, white paint, and detergent. The milk you are drinking has detergent?
In a recent raid in a dairy plant in Varanasi by the State’s Food Department revealed over ten thousand liters of spurious milk mixed with detergent. Run by Pure dairy solutions, the plant has been marketing milk by the name of Kashi Sanyog. It has also been revealed that most of the plants in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab use these means as to meet the shortage of milk.
Now you might be wondering what led to the State’s Food department to raid the dairy plant. Recently, many consumers have been reporting complaints about the taste of the milk and this led to the raid. Earlier member of the Animal Welfare Board of India, Mohan Singh Ahluwalia had said that 68.7% of milk and milk products sold in the country is not as per the standards laid down by Food Safety and Standard Authority of India. He revealed that in the production of adulterated milk and related products, detergents, caustic soda, glucose, white paint, and refined oil were commonly used.
Thus, if you are someone from Punjab, Haryana, and U.P. and sense a different taste to milk you are drinking, you should report it your nearby food department who will then raid the dairy plant where the milk is being processed. Milk is something which we consider as a source of protein and if the producers cheat us into drinking something which is poison to our health, then it is our right to raise voice against such people.
