Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus announced: what’s new?

Last year in October 2018, Qualcomm launched the most powerful processor named Snapdragon 855. It is the successor to the Snapdragon 845 flagship processor and can do any amount of tasks and helps you enjoy a seamless experience in gaming. Well, Qualcomm has now announced an upgraded version of Snapdragon 855: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus. In this article, we will tell you what will be new.

The 855 processor is more than enough for multitasking, gaming, etc but the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus comes with its own benefits. It is named as Plus because it is the same snapdragon processor with overclocked CPU and GPU.

If you don’t know about overclocking, it means pushing a processor to its full limits. You might see 2.3GHz, 2.4Ghz written in front of processors. This is the speed at which they are clocked. While the Snapdragon 855 had a standard 2.84 GHz processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus will have a 2.96 GHz one.

The Adreno 640 GPU in 855 Plus will witness a 15% increase in performance than the Snapdragon 855. Otherwise, the specifications of both processors are the same. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus will have 1 Kryo 485 (ARM Cortex A76-based) CPU cores, and finally 4 Kryo 385 CPU cores which will be clocked at 1.8 GHz. It will have an additional Snapdragon X50 5G Modem, X24 LTE Modem will support dual 14-bit Spectra 380 ISP.

There are a ton of smartphones which run on Snapdragon 855. These include some of the best smartphones launched in 2019. Here are a few devices featuring SD 855: US Samsung Galaxy S10, Xiaomi Mi 9, One Plus 7 Pro, One Plus 7, Asus Zenfone 6, Black Shark 2, Redmi K20 Pro and Nubia Red Magic 3.
