Critics have labeled Priti’s character in Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh as spineless and feeble whose life just revolves around her boyfriend. As Arjun Reddy completes three years, director Sandeep Vanga Reddy gave a befitting reply to his detractors.
In his most recent and free-wheeling conversation with one of the leading Youtube channels, the director discussed, dissected, and recalled his experiences from the movie Arjun Reddy. He also gave a rock-hard response to the query which enquired about the feeble nature of Priti’s character in the flick. Details ahead!
Priti’s Character Arc In Arjun Reddy
The auteur opined by reminiscing a scene from the movie where after breaking her marriage, Priti does not go back to Arjun and remains on her own. The filmmaker said that it was self-respect of the girl which guarded her from going back to Arjun just after breaking her marriage. Well, this was a concrete reply to leave a gape on the mouths of everyone who considered Priti’s role in the film as purposeless.
Over and above this, the director was also posed with other difficult questions like why Arjun’s character belonged to the upper class and why in the end the child had to be Arjun’s child and quickly came the reply!
Showing Arjun a guy from upper echelons of financial status had the intention of showing a guy mad in love even after having financial stability. To the latter question, Sandeep said that Arjun always had the heart to accept Priti with someone else’s child as Arjun in the flick says that it’s her ‘flesh and blood’. This validates the unconditional love which Arjun had for Priti. To show the love and loyalty of Priti, the director displayed the child as Kabir’s child as Priti was strong enough to keep Arjun’s child even when Arjun was not with her. She was so uncompromising that she decided to live her life on her terms and conditions even without taking Arjun’s help! The aforementioned reason was the main crux to make the climactic sequence the way it was in the movie.
