Mary Queen Of Scots Is Gripping : Movie Review

Mary Queen Of Scots movie is a splendid saga of two sisters where both of them are queens. One rules England the other rules Scotland. Somewhere in their heart, they have affection for each other but their sibling love is entirely lost because of the power struggles between their countries and religion.

One serves the protestants the other serves the Catholic. These are not the only reasons that their relationship is strained. Other reasons include a number of ambassadors, and noblemen whom they encounter often in their lives.

Mary Queen Of Scots Is Deeply Emotional

The film is deeply affecting showing how the battle for the throne did not even leave their bodies. One scene displayed this with deep emotional heft where Mary says ‘ I will be the women she is not, ‘l produce an heir unlike her barren self’. The fact that Mary begets a son and Elizabeth does not has changed the whole history. This movie directed by Josie Rourke has the vitality in the film called Mary Queen Of Scots. The surprising thing is that it’s her maiden directorial venture. This flick is based on the book called ‘Queen Of Scots : The True Life Of Mary Stuart’ by John Guy starts in the year 1858 and has been beautifully made keeping the authenticity intact.

The scene at the start shows Mary at the time of her execution. It proceeds with the flashback where Mary is seen returned to Scotland as a teenage widow. As the flick moves further, we see a story where two women have massive power and even after that both of them are underyoked by men. Mary Queen of the Scots movie displays two women who are driven by the love of sexual pleasure, the yearning desire for power and their hunger for power.

The character of Mary is played by Saoirse Ronan, who is a three-time Oscar nominee. Such a such a cast has elevated the film higher. She is fragile and human when she is with her maidens but her steel like personality is reflected whenever she deals with men.

Margot Robbie as Elizabeth has also put her best foot forward in the flick Mary Queen of Scotland and has played the part of frenemy with utmost honesty. The irony for the battle of the throne is clearly signaled when Elizabeth says ‘I am more man than a woman now, the throne has made me so’. The dialogues strike the correct chord of the audience and this is one more reason why this film is so profound. Talking about the visuals, there are magnificent locations of Scottish landscapes and castles. Mary Queen Of Scots movie suggested that if the power-hungry men did not come in their ways, these two electric women could have been allies and would have ruled the world together. There is enough in the film to keep the viewers hooked even after the movie is a little long. This flick should be watched!
