Last night, India beat South Africa by 6 wickets to pull off their first victory in their first match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. South Africa has lost all of the three matches it has played till now. The road to semi-finals will be difficult for them from now on. Right from the beginning, it was India who was on the top. South Africa lost critical wickets at a time just when it seemed that their partnerships were blooming. This is evident from the fact that none of the batsmen of their team was able to score a 50. Most got out in the score ranging between 30-40.

South Africa could only reach the total of 227-9 thanks to a 50+ partnership between Kagiso Rabada and Chris Morris. From the Indian side, it was the magic bowling of Yuzi Chahal who took 4 wickets and Bumrah who picked 3 wickets which led to the weak batting total.

When India came down to bat, the South African bowlers tried really hard to stop them. Shikhar was caught behind at just a score of 13 while Kohli got out when India’s score was 54. It was then that Rohit and Rahul put up a partnership and sealed the way to victory. Dhoni added 34 and Pandya added 15 to the final runs.

Rohit with his 122 runs scored his 23rd century getting ahead of Saurav Ganguly’s record of 22 centuries in ODI cricket. Rohit stands at 2nd in ODI’s Rankings.

Well, with this India was able to pull off the victory at just 47.2 overs. Indian beat South Africa to win their first match in the World Cup 2019. Well, let’s hope the winning spree continues when India faces Australia next on 9th June in their 2nd match of this tournament.
