These false news and rumours are easily spread viral over WhatsApp. Due to several vigilante murders over the past year in India. The new limit will be even stricter; message can be forwarded just five times. WhatsApp is removing the quick forward feature, a button that appears next to photos, videos and links. The previous forwarding capacity was more than 250 WhatsApp users. WhatsApp is only changing this message forwarding features for Indian users only.
More than 20 people have been lynched in India after being accused of child abduction in the last two months due to false rumours on WhatsApp. If we talk about social messaging on internet Indian users are the number ones in the world forwarding pictures, videos. Indian government shows its anger on Whatsapp officials due to not using appropriate steps for spreading false news on WhatsApp. Indian police arrested 25 people after a man was killed in mobocracy. In the latest case of a WhatsApp-rumour-fuelled, Mohammad Azam was attacked by a group of 2,000 people in southern Karnataka, after a rapid-fire WhatsApp rumour spread accusing him of attempted child abduction. Three police persons were injured in rescue attempts. Two of Azam’s friends were injured during the attack of people. Many cases are filing in India due to spread rumours on WhatsApp. Indian government wants to stop these kinds of cases. Indian government is considering, WhatsApp is responsible for these kinds of cases because WhatsApp is becoming the platform of these kinds of cases.
