Shikhar Dhawan ruled out of World Cup post injury: Know details

In the aftermath to a wonderful performance against Australia, Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the World Cup 2019. During his innings against Australia, a ball hit his thumb. Later on, in a scan, it was revealed as fractured. Shikhar’s absence will leave a huge gap as his performance during ICC Tournaments increase two-fold and he is one of the best performers in such tournaments.

Who will replace Shikhar Dhawan?

On Monday, Shikhar went to have his arm checked and on Tuesday, it was confirmed that his thumb is broken and needed time to heal. Currently, he is ruled out for 3 weeks.

A lot of discussions are being undertaken to decide who should replace Shikhar Dhawan to continue in the Indian Cricket Team. For all matches in June, Lokesh Rahul will open alongside Rohit Sharma against Bangladesh. This opens up a place for another batsman at 4th number. As per many analysts like Akash Chopra and cricketers like Irfan Pathan, Dinesh Kartik or Vijay Shankar are rumored to occupy that 4th batsmen place.

Shikhar Dhawan will not be able to play matches against New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies, and England- all these matches will take place in June.

Shikhar Dhawan has scored six centuries in ICC Tournaments and it will be really hard for the selectors to choose a perfect replacement. Upon Shikhar Dhawan’s absence, most probably Rishab Pant or Ambati Rayudu will come in as a replacement in the 15 men team.

Although Shikhar got the injury in-between his innings, he completed his century and not one moment led us to believe he was hurt or something.
