Reliance Jio has the best 4G area coverage in India but it comes at one loss: Here’s what!
Reliance Jio debuted in India in 2016 when it offered free 4G internet all over India and only started chaging for its services in 2017 and that too at a really low rate compared to its competition. Slowly, Vodafone and Airtel who earlier were exploiting their customers also had to lower their 4G data rates and make calls free.
Reliance Jio in a really small amount of time has covered almost all of India under its coverage. In comparison, it has covered 98.8% locations all over India as per a study conducted in time period between July and December 2018.
| Operator | 4G availability (%) |
|---|---|
| Jio | 98.8 |
| Airtel | 90.0 |
| Vodafone | 84.6 |
| Idea | 82.8 |
This is the network availability all over the country. Jio is a proud 1st on the list with over 98.8% 4G availability.
While 4G service is limited, the general cellular services are more important as it is the basic reason for why a person purchases a phone: To make a call. In that region too Reliance Jio is at the top.
“Except for a few red spots at the edges of Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Sikkim, and the Andaman Islands, Jio’s 4G availability map is nearly identical to their general availability map,” Speedtest said.
| Operator | General availability (%) |
|---|---|
| Jio | 99.3 |
| Airtel | 99.1 |
| Vodafone | 99.0 |
| Idea | 98.9 |
Coming to the only shortcoming of Jio 4G service is that its speed is really low in comparison to its competition namely Vodafone and Airtel. Airtel was the fastest in cellular as well as 4G speed. This can although be let out as Jio is the one because of which Indian people are easily using 4G internet throughout the month.
Do you know that Airtel used to charge Rs450 for every Gb of 4G data they made available while it only took them 1Rs to generate 1Gb of that data. They had a profit margin of over 400% which is now reduced because of Jio.
