For some fans, the Game of Thrones Season 8 has been a piece of garbage due to bad writing and rushed ending of characters. Some moments are garbage and one moment which is worth mentioning is why was there an 8 season of character development of Cersei and Jaime if you had to get them killed under a pile of rocks. Add to the fact that Season 8 is the worst rated season of Game of Thrones on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. To criticize the writers, The Game of Thrones fans through the medium of change.org, have created a petition of remaking the Game of Thrones Season 8.
The petition which was considered a joke at first, got the attention of many fans who were angry with this season and soon the petition got the attention of 1 million fans including the writer of this blog, I mean me. I personally do not hate Season 8 and have many favorite moments but it wouldn’t hurt to have another Game of Thrones Season to watch.
Due to all this upheaval and angry fans, the writers of the series expressed their anger by saying that if the fans have so much problem by the Season 8, they can create their show and write their script.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss even challenged the fans to think about millions of storylines they had to be kept in mind while writing the Seasons.
As per fans “D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have proved themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (the books) to fall back on”, the petition page reads.
The actors of the series have their own opinions to the backlash. Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark on the show has said that the fans through the petition have proven to be disrespectful to the series and shouldn’t be doing so.
“I think no matter what anyone thinks about this season — and I don’t mean to sound mean about critics here — but whatever critic spends half an hour writing about this season and makes their [negative] judgment on it, in my head they can go fuck themselves,” Kit Harrington who plays Jon Snow said to Esquire last month. “‘Cause I know how much work was put into this.”
One thing we can agree to is that the actors and writers certainly have put up a lot of effort in the Whole 8 seasons and should not be criticized based on only one season. We can say that Jon Snow is right in saying so.
