The former British Captain John Terry announced his retirement from football on Sunday. The thirty-seven-year-old centre defender had spent the bulk of his career with Chelsea and had also captained the second tier Aston Villa last season. Former British Captain John Terry is now all set to pursue a career in management.

He already has offers for the same, most notable being that from the Birmingham club who reportedly want him to join their coaching staff.

John Terry has captained the England football team seventy-eight times and has recently rejected a chance to play for Spartak Moscow, citing a move to Russia not being in the best interest of his family as the reason.

“After 23 incredible years as a footballer, I have decided now is the right time to retire from playing,” former British Captain John Terry’s message on his Instagram account read.

The last game that Terry played as a professional was Villa’s Championship play-off where Villa’s 1-0 loss denied it a return to the Premier League. However, former British Captain John Terry’s career will be best remembered for his game for Chelsea where he won five Premier League Titles, The Champions League, The Europa League and five FA Cups.

“As a 14-year-old, I made my best and biggest decision: to sign for Chelsea Football Club,” Terry said in a statement.

 “It was a privilege to represent such a renowned football club with great fans,” he said in reference to Villa.

Former British Captain John Terry is widely regarded as one of the best English centre-halves of the generation.

His reputation suffered from a tint when he was accused of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, the brother of England’s central defence Rio Ferdinand, during a west London derby against Queens Park Rangers.

He was later absolved of all criminal charges by the court in 2012.

Terry will be remembered for his game and his captaincy of the England Football team by fans all over the world.
