The 21st century brings with it a great need of internet as youths crave for it. A study reveals that not even 10% of the younger generation can live without the internet. For such youngsters and other Delhites, there is a piece of really good news. Within the next 3-4 months, 11000 WiFi Routers are going to be installed.
The Delhi Cabinet has approved for installation of WiFi services throughout the National Capital of India. The WiFi will run at a speed of 200 Mbps and each user will get 15 Gb of data to use every month. The plan suggests that 50 people will be able to connect to one WiFi router. The family with which the router is installed will get 50 Units of free electricity every month.
A budget of 100 crores has been allocated for the project. Along with 11000 WiFi Routers, a total of 1.4 lakh CCTV cameras will also be installed all over the state. As per the CM of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, the first of the plan has already begun. It will take about 3-4 months for the second to begin.
Aam Aadmi Party in 2015 promised to install free WiFi throughout Delhi. Now, as their rule is about to come to an end they seem to be honoring their promise.
In 2016, the Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi was in charge of the WiFi project. They started a trial run in North Delhi’s Sant Nagar. However, the trial failed. The project was then transferred to the Information Technology Department. It came out as a failure too.
In 2018, the government shifted the project to the Public Work Department sector of Government. They shortlisted three possible models for executing the project.
As per the proposed model, fresh routers will be set up in hotspots while in other places routers in CCTV cameras will be extended to provide WiFi connectivity.
Well, the plan seems really good and will complete within one year. Hope you liked the article. If you did, please share it with your friends.
