When human beings left behind the barbaric age and moved towards a civilized society, laws were formed. Most laws in the world make sure that we as a society don’t move back to the barbaric times that we have left behind. However, there exist some weird laws around the world that have left many people perplexed.
These weird laws around the world range from having a logical explanation to be being utterly nonsensical. However, as the world moves towards globalization, it will never hurt to know about these truly weird laws around the world.
1) It is illegal to chew gum in Singapore. The authorities do not have a problem with the composition or the chewing of gum but it sure does have problems with how people dispose and hence has decided to make chewing gum illegal to keep public places clean.
2) The most irritating part about rainy days is vehicles splashing water on you and ruining all the efforts that you as a pedestrian have taken to keep yourself dry. The Japanese however, do not have this problem as it is illegal in Japan to splash over pedestrians. This law is taken very seriously and breaking it invites a hefty fine.
3) If you are in Milan, it is illegal to frown if you are in public. You will be exempted from this law only if you are at a funeral or visiting a hospital.
4) Switzerland is one of the leading countries when it comes to the fight against environmental issues. However, this country takes environmental issues so seriously that flushing the toilet after ten in the night in an apartment building is banned as it is considered noise pollution. Too bad if one has an upset stomach.
5) Baltimore in Maryland has a law that makes it illegal to bring a lion to a movie theatre. We are sure that there is an amusing story behind the origin of this law that we don’t know of.
6) In Miami, it is illegal for humans to imitate animals for any purpose at all.
7) Thailand has a law prohibiting people from leaving their houses without underwear. How it is implemented or the lawbreakers found out truly remains an intriguing question.
8) It is illegal to name a pig “Napoleon” in France. If you thought the names of your beloved was not the business of anyone then the French who really care about their historic figures do prove you wrong.
9) In Scotland, there exists a law according to which you cannot deny anyone who knocks at your door the use of washroom.
10) Men are not allowed to wear strapless gowns in public in Melbourne, Australia.
