The set designs and the grandeur of the movie Kalank make it a film which has all Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s flick not directed by him. The flick is set in the 1940s which is high in emotions and aesthetics. People with luxurious costumes and good looks suffer in the soft lighting shots. Director Abhishek Varman has set the flick in extravagantly theatrical tone and heartache.
The Movie Kalank
The movie Kalank is not for everyone. If you want any takeaway from the film, then completely surrender to it. Questioning the logic and the authenticity of the times the drama is set in is something one should not ask. The movie is shot by ace cinematographer Binod Pradhan who also shot the epic movie Devdas, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Each frame is designed for attaining the maximum impact.

The character of Bahaar Begum played by Madhuri Dixit has the most opulent brothel after Chandrmukhi in Devdas. The set designs are staggering in the movie Kalank. Sanjay Dutt as Balraj Chaudhary will give ‘shawl’ goals to people who are a fan of embroidered shawls.
Character Of Roop Is Main in The Movie Kalank

Let’s talk about the character around which the whole tapestry of Kalank is placed. Alia Bhatt as ‘Roop’ is a young, feisty girl who gets tricked into marriage and this leads to the series of events. Dev, son of Balraj Chaudhary, portrayed by Aditya Roy Kapur is a character which he did justice to. There is an emotional distance between Dev and his father which are displayed through the scenes where they’re seen sitting unnaturally apart.

Varun Dhawan has got the most interesting as well as a complex part in the film. His performance required him to be noble as well as fiery at the same time. Somehow, he walks around the places with dust and still his hairs and good looks with unforgettable abs remain on point. Alia Bhatt is a treat to watch In ethereal avatar in the movie Kalank but the performance required more elegance.
Sonakshi Sinha played a sacrificing wife which is believable. She is the first wife of Dev who later went on to marry Roop. Kunal Khemu made the greatest impression and displayed his acting chops in a small role. Even after carefully putting all the razzle-dazzle in the right place, the movie Kalank does not shine. It did not make the impact that was expected from it. Despite this, it is one of the best flicks which will attract you with its visual beauty.
