Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has had a vision for India as Digital India, promote digital literacy and make our country a digitally advanced country.
To work in the direction of our PM’s vision, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), MHRD, Inter-Institutional Inclusive Innovation Center (i4C), and Persistent Systems organized Smart India Hackathon 2017, a special initiative to tap new and uninterrupted digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. This was an enormous success. To emphasize on the efforts towards our PM’s vision, AICTE, i4C, MHRD and Persistent Systems has proposed the 2nd edition of this initiative – Smart India Hackathon 2018.
So far, around 18 state governments and 45 plus union ministries have joined hands in this initiative, making it even bigger than 2017. With this initiative, govt. departments will directly work with thousands of technical students and put them on the pedestal to build digital solutions to improve their efficiency, plug revenue leakages and corruption.
Smart India Hackathon 2018 will be a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems will be told to technology students for innovative solutions to said problems. It will:
- Harness creativity & expertise of students
- Spark institute-level Hackathon
- Build funnel for ‘Startup India’ campaign
- Crowdsource solutions for improving governance and quality of life
- Provide an opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems
Smart India Hackathon 2018 will have 2 sub-editions – Software as well as Hardware:
- Software Edition will be a 36-hour software product development competition, in relation to the concept of Smart India Hackathon 2017.
- The new Hardware Edition will be a Hackathon where teams will be work for 5 straight days and build their hardware solutions. This competition would be limited to only 5 nodal centres with 20-25 teams each.
Such initiatives give a morale boost to the young minds, as such events are seen as a platform to display their prowess in their relevant field. We should even participate more and more to let go of our inhibitions and gain a new enthusiasm that bit by bit drives our nation to be the world leader in technology.
