Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan, popularly known as Ayushman Bharat or National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM). This scheme will officially launch on September, 25 as announced by Prime Minister Modi on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day. It is the technology-driven initiative which will ensure transparency and effective implementation. Also, it will help to develop the overall health infrastructure in the country.

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan will start on a pilot basis in 80-100 districts with the expansion of the second phase in October. Almost every states or union territories agreed to join the scheme expect Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Odisha, and Punjab which will soon join it. All registered beneficiaries will get a sum of Rs 5 lakh as a insurance on a yearly basis under this scheme. It is the duty of government to select 1.5 lakh healthcare centres and hospitals. Also, the allocation of Rs 1,200 crore will be required to develop and activate such centres.

Terms for Accessing the Benefits

• Beneficiaries can use their registered mobile number as their user ID number.
• The only individual, having registered under Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011, are eligible to get the benefits.
• Individuals with valid Aadhar card can be eligible to get the benefits.
• Also, a maximum of five members of the eligible family can get the benefit of insurance coverage.

This scheme will cover almost 10.74 families of the marginalized section, means a total sum of 50 crore Indian citizens. So, It will encourage public-private partnership to ensure the access of quality medicines to the masses. Rana Mehta said it would create a cost-effective digitized health economy and benefits to geographic inaccessible and unaffordable poor people. At last, Tertiary healthcare-centre will be pressurized to reduce the cost to offer substandard health services to people under this scheme. So, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Abhiyaan will really help for the development of the country.
