The first batch of lady fighter pilots of Indian Air Force is all set to win over the skies boarding Mig-21 fighter crafts. The batch was commissioned in June 2016.
After successful completion of their hardcore training, the three lady IAF officers are ready to serve the Nation. Avani Chaturvedi and Bhawana Kanth are to join the squadron of Mig-21 Bison fighter crafts. While, Mohna Singh will soon be posted in an operational squadron.
During the training, all the three pilots have undertaken solo flights in Kiran, PC-7 and Hawk jet trainer crafts of Indian Air Force.
Another batch of three women officers has started their fighter training in IAF academy.
It is a commendable step towards empowering women into defense forces. As women, who constitutes half of the population of our country, forms only a small part of the defense forces in India. Reportedly, there are 1350 Lady Officers in IAF, 1300 in Army and 450 in Navy.
