India is currently competing at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from 18th August to 2nd September. Neeraj Chopra was the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. This year India has till now done pretty well and at the end of day 11 have won 11 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 23 bronze medals which places them at the 9th position in the tally.

(1)Bajrang Punia
Bajrang Punia ( born 26 February 1994 ) is a freestyle wrestler from India. Punia was born in Khudan village of Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana, India. He began wrestling at the age of seven and was encouraged to pursue the sport by his father.
On August 19th, he won the Men’s freestyle 65 kg /Gold medal. He defeated Japanese Wrestler Takatani Daichi 11-8; the score was locked at 6-6 after the first round.
(2) Vinesh Phogat
Vinesh Phogat (born 25 August 1994) is an Indian wrestler who comes from a successful background of wrestling with her cousins Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, both international wrestlers and Commonwealth Games medalists.
She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win Gold in both Commonwealth and Asian games. Phogat beat Japan’s Yuki Irie in Women’s 50 kg Freestyle Wrestling gold medal match.
(3) Saurabh Chaudhary
Saurabh Chaudhary is an Indian sport shooter. He won the Gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in 10 m air pistol.He had earlier won a gold medal and set a new junior world record in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl,Germany.
(4) Rahi Sarnobat
Rahi Jeevan Sarnobat a female athlete from India who competes in the event of 25 meters pistol shooting.
On August 22, 2018, she became the first Indian woman individual Asian games gold medalist in shooting by winning the 25 meter pistol event with a game’s record score of 34. She won the shoot off against her Thai opponent to bag the Gold.
(5) India’s Rowing Team
Sawarn Singh, Dattu Baban Bhokalan, Om prakash, Sukhmeet Singh comprise the Indian Rowing team. They won the gold medal on 24th August and its a big achievement as India is known for many sports but not rowing.
(6) Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan
They both won the Gold medal in Men’s Double lawn tennis on 24th August. They deserve a many hearty congratulations from all of us for achieving such.
(7) Tajinderpal Singh Toor
Tejinder Pal Singh Toor (born 13 November 1994) is an Indian shot putter who holds the outdoor national record of 20.75m.
On 25 August 2018, Toor won gold at the 2018 Asian games with a 20.75m throw, breaking the Games Record and the national record.
(8) Neeraj Chopra
You must have heard it as this famous young man born 24 December 1997 has won another gold in Javelin throw. On 27 August 2018, Neeraj threw at a distance of 88.06 m and won gold in the Men’s Javelin Throw in the 2018 Asian Games and set a new Indian national record bettering his previous record that was set at Doha diamond league.
(9) Manjit Singh
Interestingly this person was kicked out by a sports agency saying he was done with sports career. He proved it wrong.
On March 7 2018, in the Patiala Federation Cup, he competed in both 800 m and 1500 m and bettered his timings of 1500 m to 3:42.24 and qualified for 1500 m in the 2018 Asian Games. On 27 August 2018, Manjit Singh, stuns everyone and compatriot Jinson Johnson to win gold in the Men’s 800 metres at the Asian Games after 36 years for India where he clocked 1:46.15 as his personal best.
(10) Arpinder Singh
Arpinder Singh is an Indian born triple jumper.On August 29,2018 which is celebrated as National Sports Day in India he won gold medal in triple jump event in 18th Asian games.
(11) Swapna Barman
Swapna Barman (born 29 October 1996) is an Indian heptathlete.
She won the women’s heptathlon gold medal in Asian Games 2018, Indonesia.
