The India Vs Australia 2nd T-20 can be said to be a no brainer match. It wasn’t a one sided match. Neither of the 2 T-20’s were one sided. They were fought till the last over and the last ball. It was India who were beaten in their home land like they defeated Australia in theirs. Firstly, here are the squads from the 2 teams.
Indian Squad
Australia Squad
Darcy Short, Marcus Stoinis, Aaron Finch (c), Glenn Maxwell, Peter Handscomb, Ashton Turner, Nathan Coulter nile, Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendoff, Adam Zampa.
India were batting first and they got a great start. Lokesh Rahul scored 47 off just 26 deliveries while Dhawan scored 14 off 24. Kohli scored an unbeaten 72 of just 38 deliveries while Pant got out early for 1 run. It was Dhoni who put up a great partnership with Kohli and hit 40 of just 23 deliveries. he hit 3 sixes and 3 fours in his innings. India scored 190 runs off their 20 overs.
It was already predicted India would win considering how bad in form were Australian batters. It proved right for sometime. At the end of 4 overs Australia were 22 for the loss of 1 wicket. It was then that Darcy Short and Maxwell put up a great partnership in which Short scored 40 off 28 while Maxwell scored an unbeaten 113 off 55 deliveries.
Handscomb scored 20 off 18.
From Indian bowling side Vijay Shankar took 2 wickets in his 4 overs. Kaul and Chahal were the most conceding bowlers both giving up 45 and 47 runs in their 4 overs. Australia won with 2 balls remaining.
Kohli in an after-statement said that it was nobody’s fault. It was just that Australia performed really well and deserved the win. Still, if India continues to play new players against a team such as Australia nobody is to blame. Kuldeep and Hardik should have been playing in the Top 11.
Also, as M.S. Dhoni is rumored to retire after World Cup 2019 this might be his last played T-20 for India.
