In Game of Thrones, the Starks have always been the game changers but we never would have expected as to what happened in the 3rd episode of Season 8 of Game of Thrones. So, with a spoiler warning let’s discuss as to what happened in the Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3.
We see an unexpected return of Mellisandre or you may know her from the name Red Women. She lights up the swords of the warriors and they are off to battle against the Dark Army. The Warriors are finished within minutes and we see some warriors return including Ser Jorah who is seriously injured. The Army of the Zombies arrive and so, the Long Night begins. As expected nobody lasts much against the dead people. The dead overpower the living and we see several of the main characters getting killed.
Even though Melissandre torched the boundaries, the dead army was able to enter after a few minutes. The dead were more than what everyone could take. We saw Lyanna Mormont getting killed by a giant but not before she plunges a block of wood through the giant’s skull and killing it too in the process. We see Beric die after saving Arya from a bunch of dead men, thus fulfilling his purpose.
Arya’s save definitely does save the day. Theon did kill the last of the white walkers who threatened Bran but died from the hands of The Night King. This eventually had the Night King next going for Bran but was stopped from Arya who leapt at the Night King, was caught from her neck but killed him with the help of the dragon glass she was carrying which made the Night Army getting dissipated into thin air.
So, first of all, we should be discussing one of the best characters we have seen in the game of Thrones till now. Theon Greyjoy. He went on from being the guy who grew with the Starks to a villain who was hated by everyone and now he died a hero. This is how character development should be done and Theon is a perfect example of one.
Ser Jorah, in this episode, reaches his end and completes his destiny of saving Khaleesi from the danger. Now, with Night King gone and with full 2 dragons and some part of an army left, will Daenerys be able to capture the Throne from the hands of Cersei or will we be seeing some plot twist we don’t even know about. After seeing Arya kill the Night King, we don’t know what to expect from this series now.
This week we saw 2 Starks saving the day: Arya and Tony Stark. The only difference is that one dies while the other lives.
One thing which can’t be argued is that this 78-minute long-lasting episode does meet our expectations and is certainly better than the Battle of the Bastards.
