The “microphone not working issue” is one of the greatest issues on windows 10 as it does not work easily with many recording devices even if they are built in the computer.

Method 1: Recording Device Settings

There exists a speaker icon in the bottom-right part of the screen. Right click on it and choose “recording devices”.
A list of devices will appear on the screen. Speak into your mic and see if green bars rise next to any item on the list.
If you do see green bars when you talk into the microphone, then that means that the mic is correctly configured but the program is listening to the wrong recording device. Change the program settings.
If no green bars appear then see if you can recognize which one of the devices in the list is your microphone. Upon finding it, click on it and click “Set Default”.
Do the green bars test again. If the bars appear then you have been successful.
However, if the bars do not appear. Double-click on the item on the list that represents your microphone. The Microphone Properties window will appear. Click the “Levels” tab.
Here, make sure that both “Microphone” and “Microphone Boost” are set to the maximum.
Then click on the “Enhancement” tab and uncheck “Disable all sound effects” box.
Restart the computer and check for green bars again. If they appear then you have been successful.
If not and you are not sure which device in the list is your microphone then repeat the steps for all items in the list.

Method 2: Uninstalling and Reinstalling Microphone Drivers

Open the Device Manager.
Click Open ‘Audio Inputs and Outputs’.
Left-click on the recording device.
Click “Uninstall”.
Disconnect the microphone hardware from the computer physically.
Now restart the computer.
Then once again, connect the microphone and let Windows reinstall the drivers.
If it still does not work, then you install the latest driver found on your computer manufacturer’s website manually, as the latest driver sometimes isn’t the one compatible with your computer. So, search for the computer model number on the manufacturer’s website, download the latest driver that is compatible with your model number and Windows 10 and check if it works.
