An FIR has been registered against Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in Odisha. The case has been filed at Jharsuguda police station under sections 152 and 197(1)(D) of the Indian Penal Code. Rahul Gandhi has been accused of deliberately making anti-national statements. It has also been alleged that he intentionally attempted to weaken India’s sovereignty and integrity.
He has been accused of declaring war against the Indian state and deliberately misleading the public. Taking the complaint seriously, IG Himanshu Kumar Lal immediately instructed Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police, Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, to conduct a thorough investigation. Following these instructions, the police have started their probe into the matter.
When the Surya Samachar team spoke to IG Himanshu Kumar Lal regarding the FIR and the investigation, he stated, “The complaint contained serious elements warranting an FIR. Hence, I directed Superintendent of Police Parmar Smit Parshottamdas to conduct an in-depth investigation, following which SP Parmar registered the FIR to facilitate the investigation of this offense.”
According to the FIR, the complaint was lodged at 11:30 PM on February 7. The complainant, 42-year-old Ram Hari Pujari from Sarbahal, along with members of the BJP, BJP YuvaMorcha, RSS, Bajrang Dal, and BJP Legal Cell of Jharsuguda district, alleged that Rahul Gandhi has been deliberately making anti-national statements, which have hurt the sentiments of every Indian.
The FIR further states that Rahul Gandhi’s speech has crossed the limits of freedom of expression. By declaring his fight against the Indian state, he has deliberately incited disruptive activities and rebellion among the people. It also claims that his statements have weakened India’s sovereignty and integrity. Following the complaint, the police have initiated an investigation.
It is worth noting that Rahul Gandhi delivered a speech on January 15 during the inauguration of the new Congress party headquarters on Kotla Road, Delhi. During his address, he stated, “Just like the ideology of RSS, our ideology is also thousands of years old, and it has been fighting against the RSS ideology for thousands of years. BJP and RSS have taken control of every institution in our country. Now, we are fighting against BJP, RSS, and even the Indian state itself.”
