Chandrayan 2 is an Indian space mission in which the spacecraft named Bahubali was to launch on July 15th outside of earth’s atmosphere. However, the Chandrayan 2 launch was called off due to a certain technical snag. ISRO doesn’t want to take any risks regarding the launch, thus it canceled the launch.
First of all, the time of the launch was set at 2:51 a.m. At 1:55 a.m., the launch got called off due to a technical snag in the launch system. If the spacecraft had been launched, there could have been at risk of it crashing. ISRO in a tweet mentions that the Chandrayan 2 did not launch into space as a measure of abundant precaution.
President Ram Nath Kovind was reportedly present at the time to view the launch event. Many people had booked tickets and came to watch the launch. Sadly, everyone had to return home. As mentioned earlier, the success of Chandrayan 2 mission will bring India into an elite number of countries to reach the surface of the moon.
India would be only the 4th nation to do it. Other three are China, the US, and Russia. The total cost of the Chandrayan 2 mission has been Rs 978 crores. Rs 603 crores are for the building up of the space rover while Rs 375 crores are the launch costs.
ISRO has been proudly advertising about the Chandrayan 2 mission costing less than that of Avengers Endgame movie. ISRO is very well known throughout the world for taking up effective and inexpensive missions.
This is not the first time a launch has been called off. The launch of Chandrayan 2 was scheduled for the month of January. It was later shifted to July. Now, there is no time schedule as to when will CHandrayan 2 launch. ISRO has said that the revised date of launch will be told later on.
