Am!itabh Bachchan’s Birthday Takes Us Back To The 70s Era

Amitabh Bachchan's Birthday

Amitabh Bachchan needs no introduction when it comes to Hindi Cinema. The heights he has attained, the niche which he has carved for himself, the scale of his popularity, the adulation and the extent to which he has entertained is so massive that there is a crisis in vocabulary to define them. On the auspicious day of Amitabh Bachchan’s Birthday, we will NOT throw light on his famous dialogues and movies. Instead, today we will look at some of the hard-hitting lines from his movies which did not get the popularity they deserved. Let us remember the era of the 70s which has the world of its own and the whistles that came from the theatres when heroes pummeled the bad guys to the pulp!

”Jab Tak Baithne Ko Na Kaha Jae Sharafat Se Khade Raho, Ye Police Station Hai Tumhare Baap Ka Ghar Nahi” From Zanjeer 1973

Hindi Cinema has always shown that no matter how great the antagonist or criminal is, there is a trust in the law and order and cops are committed to it. On Amitabh Bachchan’s Birthday, we would like to talk about the scene where a convict who is convicted (who has special popularity in his area) visits the police station. Instead of being extra polite due to the convict’s charisma, Amitabh (as a cop) treats him rigidly and reminds him to remain standing as the premise is the police station and not the convict daddy’s castle!

Peter, Tum Log Mujhe Dhoondh Rahe Ho Aur Main Tumhara Yahaan Intezaar Kar Raha Hoon” from Deewar 1975

When Vijay showed the power of his arm to the local leader of the dirty gang named Peter at Peter’s own premise, the audience clapped and cheered. This is one of the  dialogues from the flick Deewar which showed the courage of ‘Vijay’ which emphasized the fact that he is brave beyond people’s imagination.

”Dan Pan Nahi Khaata’ From Don 1978

This scene is as hilarious as it can get. This particular part of the popular movie Don displayed the rustic mannerisms of ‘Vijay’ who is a vagabond but had a striking resemblance to the real leader of the underworld monikered ‘Don’.

”Apun Ko Angreji Nahi Atta Hai Bhai, Nahi Aata Hai” From Khuddar 1994

Amitabh Bachchan’s Birthday can be incomplete if we do not mention the scenarios of his movie where he was ridiculed for not knowing English. In this movie, he very blatantly tells a ‘posh-nosh’ lady that he does not know English.

This scene is also an epitome where he shows the love for his brother as the audience put him down by ‘hooting and teasing’ during a theatrical play. Do not miss to watch this funniest Bollywood scene. Just click on the video below.

” Apun Tumhare Wardi Ki Wajha Se Idhar Chup Baithela hai, Nai To Mai Kasam Abhi Koi Aur Hota To Hospital Ka Khatiya Pakad Liya Hota” From Amar Akbar Anthony 1977

A local guy who is known for his involvement in fights but is a true and moral man from inside is what this dialogue displayed in the movie monikered Amar Akbar Anthony. When he is beaten by a cop, he does not revert just because he respects the cop.

These lines mean that Anthony (Amitabh’s name in the movie) can easily punch the person holding his caller, but he respects the cop’s position and so he is not doing it. If it was someone else, he would have been in hospital as Anthony would have thrashed him badly.

Reel life & Real life are poles apart ! Clapping on every scintillating dialogue does make sense but life outside a movie theatre is the actual theatre of life which does not get over in three hours but continues not only till our lives but further beyond ! Anyway A B is a versatile artist and a thorough gentleman and he has deep regards for the real life heroes.
