Narcos, a Netflix original series about drugs, crime, money, ambition, love, betrayal and above all life. An amazing show that had the world by storm, Narcos as a series is a masterpiece and truly one of the gems of the entertainment industry.
The first two seasons of Narcos as a series follows the life, rise and fall of Pablo Escobar and his drug cartel. A poor boy who went on to be one of the richest men in the world and died the death of a petty criminal, with no money and in the streets. His is a story out of which great plots are conceived.
Narcos as a series does nothing wrong
However, Narcos as a series to its credit does not rely just on the really interesting story of Pablo Escobar, the man who was at one point spending millions on rubber bands to hold his money. Narcos had got out right at every step.
Let us start with the script. Based on real life events, the storytelling of Narcos as a series is nothing short of phenomenal. It gets you hooked, like a drug. You need to know what happens next. You could have read everything about this drug lord and never predict what happens next. You can’t decide whose side you are on, the good guys or the bad guys. You can’t even decide who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. You sympathize with every character. This is just a result of great writing conveyed in a form of great script.
No script, good or bad can be executed without a good director. Narcos probably had the best direction as far as series go. The execution of the script is superb. The direction is so brilliant that the fact that half of the series is in Spanish, a language that a lot of the viewers don’t speak does not make a difference. The good direction ensured we know exactly what is going on even if we don’t speak the language that the characters use.
Narcos as a series has also been lucky to have the best casting directors who put up what can be called the perfect cast. The cast to their credit not only look like the people that they are portraying but also consists of pretty talented actors. No product of the entertainment industry except Narcos can claim that all of their cast without exception are great at acting. The reason why we get that a drug lord in a distant land in a different time is so sad is not just good script and great direction but also some phenomenal acting.
There is not one aspect of the show that a person can find fault with. There are no continuity errors. Facts are on point. Costumes are bang on. The tracks used are some of the best.
If there is one series you need to recommend to save you life, go with Narcos. It can never go wrong.
