With the killing of a person thousand questions arise. And if that person is a celebrity then it even becomes the most important and talked affair of the town. It also becomes the agenda of all the media houses. You come to know about every aspect of that person’s life. but there are certain cases that are very suspicious. Judgments of such cases are unsatisfactory. Also, it is a debatable issue that in such cases is it the criminal that outsmart or investigation authority is the one that lags behind or is weak. Nevertheless, the people, smartest of all are still able to crack the mystery and without any hesitation give their judgment. I remember the time when my house used to be like an investigation bureau when any such case came into news. In fact, all the kiosk in my locality always served me with some new insights, no matter true or false. Hence, I would like to refresh in your minds 5 most suspicious cases of India.
- Arushi Talwar: The investigation of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar’s murder, who was found with her throat slit, presented years of twists and turns. While the servant, Hemraj was initially accused, the body of their Nepalese domestic help was also found within days. A long drawn out investigation saw confusion over evidence, accusations of her parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar misleading investigators, and a dramatic trial by media, the court eventually ruled the parents guilty. This case became so popular that later it was filmed featuring Irrfan Khan. Hence, it is considered one of 5 most suspicious cases of India.
- Sunanda Pushkar: Sunanda Pushkar, wife of an Indian diplomat and politician Shashi Tharoor. A day after a Twitter controversy in which she accused Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar of stalking her husband, she was found dead in room 345 of Delhi’s Leela Palace hotel. Shashi discovered her body and assumed she was asleep. It was only when she did not ‘wake up’ that he informed the police, who recovered the body and had it send for postmortem. While initial reports cited suicide, All India Institute of Medical Sciences doctors claimed injury marks, followed by death due to a drug overdose. On January 6, 2015, Delhi Police reported that Sunanda was murdered.
- Divya Bharti: Around midnight 5 April 1993, Divya fell to her death off her husband Sajid Nadiadwala 5-storey apartment building in Mumbai. There were numerous speculations by the media regarding Divya’s sudden demise, including the possibility of accidental death, suicide and even murder. Divya’s dress designer is believed to have been present at the apartment at the time of death but the unfortunate event could not be avoided. Police closed the investigation into her death in 1998, but the circumstances of her death still remain murky. Her body was released on 7 April 1993 and the funeral took place the same day.
- Lal Bahadur Shastri: Was the 2nd Prime Minister of India and a senior leader of the Indian National Congress political party. Shastri’s sudden death immediately after signing the Tashkent Pact with Pakistan raised many questions in the minds of Indian citizens. The Prime Minister of India going to Tashkent for a pact and never coming back has not been accepted easily by Indian citizens. His health was fit according to his doctor, R. N. Chugh, and he had no sign of heart trouble before. Shastri’s sudden death has led to persistent conspiracy theories that he was poisoned.
- Sridevi: Sridevi was pronounced dead on 24 February 2018 at 19:00 GMT at her hotel room where her husband had found her. At first, it was announced by her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor to the Indian media that the cause of death was a cardiac arrest, but the investigation to her death began early Sunday morning around 2:30, and the case was transferred to Dubai Public Prosecution by Dubai Police, where General Department of Forensic Evidence, Dubai revealed that the cause of death was “accidental drowning”. The toxicology report later also revealed that traces of alcohol were found in her body, and water was found in her lungs. But many people are not convinced by this theory and suspect other reasons for her death.
Undoubtedly, these are the 5 most suspicious cases in India according to me. What are your views on all these cases?
