Tik Tok ban lifted by Madras High Court: Will it be back on Play Store?

Tik Tok ban

Tik Tok was banned by Maharashtra Court because of inappropriate content uploaded by some people. The ban which was placed on 18th of April which got it removed from both Google and ios Play Store was lifted, subject to certain conditions. Tik Tok ban was a necessary step as per some people and there was a wave of joy when it got banned but due to people from Tik Tok complaining about over 250 jobless people due to the decision, the decision was reconsidered and now the ban has been lifted.

Deciding the case filed by advocate Muthukumar, the bench vacated its interim order banning the app on the condition that Pornographic content will not be uploaded on the App.

The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court, which is hearing another petition that alleges the app “degrades culture and encourages pornography”, had earlier said children who were using Tik Tok App were prone to the sexual predators uploading such shameful video.

Although, one fact which can’t be missed is that Tik Tok is a really fun app where so many comedy videos are made and it also provides a chance to people who want to make a career in acting by giving them a platform where they can prove themselves.

The creators of the App have promised to strengthen the App against those people who upload unhealthy content on the App. The Tik Tok developer said that users flagged only a tiny proportion of Tik Tok videos, showing that a “very minuscule” proportion of its content was considered inappropriate.

ByteDance, the company which created the App has faced the financial loss of upto Rs3.5 crores per day it has also put up 250 jobs at risk. It also said that the ban would result in its reputation and goodwill taking a hit with both advertisers and investors.
