Does really the time limit for visiting Taj Mahal is required for the tourists?

Visitors come here to relax and to spend their time. The white marble mausoleum attracts seven to eight million visitors per year. And during the peak season, the monument can receive 50,000 visitors per day.

Now, the Government of Uttar Pradesh set the time limit of visitors. The visitors who spend more than three hours in Taj Mahal will now be charged additional fees, as a circular implementing time the three-hour limit has come into force.

If visitors come from outside India and purchase a ticket which is ten times costlier for foreign visitors as compared to Indian visitors. And get only three-hour for visiting.

The action of the UP government can create a sense of dissatisfaction among the tourists. They will think twice before visiting this place.  

Why the Government of Uttar Pradesh set the time limit for visiting Taj Mahal?

Day by day the number of visitors is increasing, for preventing the historic site and overcrowding, the Government of Uttar Pradesh take this step. On the weekend day, the crowd increases by 50,000 to 70,000. Every year tourist amounting to twice the total population of Agra visits the city for spotting Taj Mahal.

And Supreme Court had in February slammed the UP Government for poor maintenance of Taj Mahal and asked it to seriousness in preserving the monument.

Will this time limit for visiting Taj Mahal change in future?

The impact of visitation will be monitored in both high and low tourist season before a further decision is made. If the time limit helps in reducing overcrowding then the UP government will follow this trend in the future.
