This movie Badhaai Ho. The title itself reveals many things about the flick. It is about a Kaushik family where a middle-aged couple is living with their two sons and there is a perpetually angry grandmother in the family too. Suddenly, an unexpected pregnancy turns the world of this couple and the whole clan’s world upside down.

This happens when the lady in the family (who already has two sons one of whom is at a suitable age of getting married and have children) suddenly gets pregnant. This is the base about the movie Badhaai Ho upon which the whole flick is made. The concerns like gossip-mongers teasing, societal shaming and even the family’s reaction including their own children come alive.

The strength of the movie is the realism with this topic has been displayed. The director of the flick, Ravindranath Sharma has sunk his tooth into the atmospherics of the Delhi. Be it the accent of Delhites, the posh-nosh people, the guys from Delhi and the overall environment, there is nothing that lacks realism in any manner. People from Delhi will instantly connect to the settings.

The actors in the flick, Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Ayushmann Khurana, and Sanya Malhotra have done full justice to the part they have played. They look and appear as genuine as it gets. Talking particularly about Ayushmann, he portrayed the role of Nakul and his character is so factual that youngsters would strike a correct chord instantly with him in this movie Badhaai Ho.

He is flawed, confused in love with a girl but after all a person who is honest and real. He has pushed himself so hard over te years that his part in the movies seems like effortless. Sanya Malhotra’s character is not at all layered or something to root for but she has played an absolutely captivating part in the flick. The honesty with which she has immersed into the role of an average looking girl (but from a posh society) is beyond amazing. This makes her shine throughout the movie Badhaai Ho.

Surekha Sikri as ‘Dadi’ looks like a real ‘Dadi’ from all Indian households we have. She is the one who will scold her own children but would not let the outsiders say a word against her clan. Her character is so cleverly written by the writers that it seems like she is some real person who has been played on screen. She manages to pull off that role with such eminence that you will not forget her after you see the movie. Gajraj Rao is another one who makes our hands go clapping as far as performance is concerned in the movie Badhaai Ho. He is a railway ticket checker who is incredible in his performance. If you have ever met railway staff in your real life who speaks broken English while dealing with foreigners and posh people in trains, you will just understand his character completely and truly. He with his wife discovers that society does not matter when what you are doing is backed by the support of your family and loved ones. The movie Badhaai Ho is a must watch if you want to see how a family deals with taboo topics and also if you want to Laugh Out Loud!
