Earth is the only habitable planet in our solar system and throughout the universe as per our knowledge. However, what if I tell you that there is a place on earth where not even tiny microbes are found. The place is completely lifeless, just like everything on Mars. In recent research, the most Uninhabitable Place on Earth has been found.

In a study, published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution, any form of microbial life was found absent in the hot, saline, hyper acid ponds of the Dallol geothermal field of Ethiopia. The aquatic environment had no life whatsoever. The pond helped researchers in understanding the limits of habitability.
The pond located in Ethiopia extends over a volcanic crate full of salt, constantly releasing toxic gases with water boiling in the midst of the intense hydrothermal activity. No human could survive even a day near the pond. Researchers have said that it is one of the most horrifying environments across our planet Earth. Its daily temperatures soar past 45 degrees Celcius.
Lopez Garcia from FECYT said, “After analyzing many more samples than in previous works, with adequate controls so as not to contaminate them and a well-calibrated methodology, we have verified that there’s no microbial life in these salty, hot and hyper acid pools or in the adjacent magnesium-rich brine lakes. And all this despite the fact that microbial dispersion in this area, due to the wind and to human visitors, is intense.”
Well, most Uninhabitable Place on Earth ironically is the place where life evidently began: Water. Despite a lot of water, the Geothermal Field of Ethiopia remains completely lifeless. To think that earth at one point in time was just like this is chilling.
