India Vs West Indies first test match started 4th October. It is the first out of 2 tests planned. India won the toss and decided to bat first. Clearly, it was a day for India. Let’s first take a look at the playing members of both sides.
Indian Team

Prithvi hits a hundred
In the very beginning, India lost their opener K.L. Rahul who was Lbw by Lewis. Then came Pujara and he along with Prithvi Shaw struck a solid partnership of 206 runs. Prithvi Shaw, in his debut match scored a wonderful hundred and a total 134 runs. It was a wonder watching him play. He was not afraid of facing the West Indies fast bowlers and hit them hard. Till the time he was batting India had a run rate of 5. Pujara, also scored a very well played 86 but fell short of a hundred.
After losing Shaw and Pujara, the captain and vice-captain Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane came down to bat and struck a good partnership. Ajinkya Rahane got out at 41 while Virat completed his fifty. The newly selected youngster Pant came down to bat and has struck a total of 16 runs and is not out. He and Virat Kohli (72*) will continue the batting from Indian side tomorrow morning.
India’s total at the end of 89 overs was 364-4 which is pretty good seeing how hard it was to score these much runs against England.
The West Indies bowlers Gabriel, Bishoo, Lewis and Chase each got one wicket but it can be said that India has turned out to be a superior side at the end of Day One. But, its just day one and there are still 4 days lef to go. Don’t get your hopes too high nor put them really low.
