We have seen a lot of movies in which humans have lost earth to their own creation: Robots. These movies seem entertaining but also give rise to a question. Should we be evolving technology than what it is right now? We are going to discuss this question at length in this blog.
Many of you are must be familiar with Dan Brown’s novel Origins. In his novel he answered a question which many scientists have been looking forward to: Where do we come from?
Along with this question he also answer the question: Where are we going?
To know the answer of “Where do we come from?” You should read the novel but in this blog we are going to discuss his answer to “Where are we going?”
As per the supercomputer developed by the character Edmond Kirsch “E-Wave” in 2000 a species was born above human intellect. It was just a dot at that time which represented that it was present on earth in very low amounts. Now, in the 2018 the species has grown to a large extent. The species Dan Brown suggests will end Human species and make us extinct by 2050.
We are now going to tell which species is he talking about:
Technium. Technium is the species created by Humans. Over the years since 2000 there have been so many scientific improvements in technology. In the novel we see Winston, an AI Robot who can talk with Robert Langdon and made him feel that he is like a person, not a robot. He had feelings, judgement and everything a normal human does. So, is a Robotic future just a suggestion or might it get real and make us an extinct species. Mind you, we have not even been on this planet for a million years. Early humans were dated back from 200000 years while dinosaurs have lived and ruled over the earth for over 65 million years which seem like an impossible amount of time. They couldn’t stop their extinction. We can!
If actual walking robots who have intellect more than a human mind and can also make a judgement then they would see us, the humans as a rival and would do anything to make us extinct. We, as humans would never be able to think that robots, who are our creation would be able to outsmart us and make us extinct and that is what they would take benefit out of. See, and think carefully. What can we do to prevent such a future in which the Robots don’t get smarter than us.
The simple answer to the question is to stop creating such things which will make us extinct. Lots and lots of creation are being made each and every day of our life and we don’t even know about it. Someone out there might even have built a time machine. A question we need to ask our-self is: Do we want a safe future?
