It is inevitable that this movie would not be compared with the epic Marathi movie Sairat which came in 2016. The things have been tweaked in this movie because of the ‘Dharma Production Stamp’ it has. Dhadak movie directed by Shashank Khaitan is a beautiful recreation of Sairaat and is a deep love-story which is seen in Bollywood after a long gap. Starring newcomers Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, the movie is definitely going to win your heart. The story unfolds in the mesmerizing locations of Udaipur which later shifts to Kolkata.

Giving no spoilers and just talking about the basic, the chemistry and acting skills of both these newcomers have really lighted up the screens. Jhanvi Kapoor needs to work little harder on her dialogue delivery hut as a debutant, she has managed to pull off her role as a young girls falling in love with great depth and reality. Ishaan Khatter is a promising newcomer whose talent and hard work is shining like a gold in the movie. His naivety in the first half and his transformation when the reality of the world hit him hard (in the second half of the Dhadak movie) will make you root for him and feel his pain.

The flaws in the movie are many. The first and foremost is the character of Ashutosh Rana who is nothing but a caricature of his own cinematic image. He as a rude and tyrant father is the too old school to show to the ‘Indian’ audience now. Also, when the couple goes through the crisis but their hairs and surroundings are visibly sanitized is something which will not be easily digested. How could lovers looks and hairs be on point when they are struggling for survival and are going through emotional turmoil? Well, that is something which Dharma Productions have always failed to explain! In spite of the little bumps, Dhadak movie is worth your time and it is really going to touch your emotional chords really deep.
