After beating Pakistan by 8 wickets in the group A match of Asia Cup 2018, India again emerged victorious against Bangladesh. India beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets after chasing an average target of 173 in 49.1 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja was named the ‘Man of the Match’ after knocking down four wickets. Indian Captain Rohit Sharma scored a splendid 83 runs off 104 balls which led India to win their opening Super Four Match at the Asia cup 2018 in just 36.2 overs.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first. India got its first wicket in just 4.3 overs from Liton Das at 15 runs. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Nazmul Hossain Shanto for 7 runs in 5.1 overs. The saving grace for Bangladesh was the 66- run stand for the eight wickets between Mehidy Hasan Miraz (42 off 50) and Bangladesh Captain Mashrafe Mortaza (26 off 32).
Mehidy Hasan batted brilliantly, rotating the strike at a run-ball rate to consolidate but slogged Jasprit Bumrah’s short pitched delivery straight into the hands of Shikhar Dhawan at the deep mid-wicket boundary. From 15 for 2, the experienced pairing of Mushfuqir Rehman and Shakib Al Hasan had the tedious task of rebuilding the innings against Jadeja. After hitting two boundaries in the 10th over against Jadeja, the Bangladeshi All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan went for another, but his sweep went straight into the hands of Shikhar Dhawan and Bangladesh lost its 3rd wicket.
Ravinder Jadeja, who was playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Delhi, got a last- minute call to join the National team in Dubai for Asia cup 2018 in the wake of Hardik Pandya’s injuries, grabbed the opportunity with both hands and proved his worth.
In the second innings, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma and M S Dhoni shared 64 run- stand, before the former Indian team Captain lost his wicket. It was a predictable win for India after the partnership of 61 runs between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.
Indian Captain Rohit Sharma chased his second consecutive fifty plus score of the tournament. In his match against Bangladesh at Asia cup 2018, Rohit Sharma hit five fours and three huge sixes.
It was a clinical performance by the Indian bowlers, says Indian Captain Rohit Sharma. The match was kind of expected because the Bangladeshi team was tired and fatigued due to their loss against Afghanistan less than 24 hours ago. India will play their next super four game against Pakistan on Sunday.
