The reports said that 5 out of 31 patients in the younger than 50 year age group were less than 30 years old. Also, 50% of all the patients were non-smokers. But, the worst part is that this figure kept rising. The problem is that 30% of the patients were initially misdiagnosed as suffering from Tuberculosis for many months, leads to a delay in diagnosis of lung cancer.

Air pollution is the major cause of lung cancer in many non-smokers of less than 30 year age group. Also, the study suggested that the majority of the patients suffered from Adenocarcinoma and in early reports from Squamous Carcinoma.

Most Common Symptoms

  1. Shortness of breath.
  2. The loss in weight and loss of appetite.
  3. Blood found during spiting and coughing up of blood.
  4. Chest pain that often gets worse with deep breathing, coughing, or laughing.
  5. Feel of tiredness, weakness or hoarseness.
  6. Infections such as Bronchitis and Pneumonia that do not go away or keep coming back.

Steps taken by Government

The initiative called #BeatLungCancer is adopted by the Lung Care Foundation. Surely, this will help in raising awareness & promoting screening for early detection. Also, it will provide inspiration and support through stories of the strength of other patients.

Afforestation in the outskirt area will help in reducing air pollution. Ultimately, it will reduce the instance of lung cancer in Delhi among the younger age group. Increasing Lung cancer in Delhi.
