Student of The Year 2 is filled with all glamour and designer clothes as we expected from it. We all knew it from the time when college based movie ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ was released in 1998 by Dharma Productions. It’s not a secret that colleges in Dharma Productions are unique fantasy.

Karan Johar’s flicks are highly inspired by American High School Movies but fitting those surroundings and atmospherics in the Indian scenario is just not difficult but an implausible idea as well.
But still, this Indian version of High School American movie called Student Of The Year 2 is easy on the eye and is definitely going to bring the memory of Rahul and Anjali back with basketball matches and love triangle. Just like the first part of the movie, even here in SOTY2 we’re told in the beginning that ‘Ye Koi Mamuli School Nahi Tha’. This was probably said to hint the audience that they cannot question the logic in this film. No one should ask why students in this school never open their books, we have to just surrender to the grandeur of Karan Johar helmed by Puneet Malhotra.
In Student of The Year 2 – St. Teresa is the school where everything is hot and happening. It brings up a competition which is not about ‘Student Of The Year Trophy’ but it’s a level more and in this film it’s about ‘Dignity Trophy’. The competition is so fierce that it pits colleges in Dehradun against each other. St. Teresa is an institution where rich and affluent students go. Yes, it’s similar to ‘Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar’ premise. The other college named ‘Pishorilal Chamandas College’ is where the middle-class kids go. Our hero of the flick, Tiger Shroff’ is from this college but his skills and talents make him get a seat in posh nosh St. Teresa, Here, he is always bullied for being poor. In this movie, his name is Rohan. He is an upright boy and his action sequences make him watchable.
You will feel sorry for the roles of the girls in this movie. Debutantes Tara Sutaria and Ananaya Pandey are just one note. Whatever material Ananay a Pandey had in the flick, she did what she could and made an impression. She is a brat and yes, she tried to be like that in this flick. But Tara Sutaria, she just looked like a vapid glam doll and nothing more. The climax is predictable and Student Of The Year 2 is just as good as designer clothes on models.
