The Indian Cricket captain got his 3rd demerit point when he violated ICC’s Code of Conduct on Sunday in a T20 match against South Africa. Kohli had an inappropriate shoulder contact with pacer Beuran Hendricks in the fifth over the innings while taking a run. Being a sportsman, he admitted his offense and accepted the sanctions.
For the team’s benefits and its future, Kohli has to keep his anger in check. He received one demerit point in the Centurion Test against South Africa in January 2018 for misbehavior with an umpire. His 2nd demerit point came in the ICC World Cup 2019 in a match against Afghanistan for excessive appealing.
How Demerit points can lead to a person’s suspension?
When a player reaches 4 or more suspension points within a 24 month period, these demerit points are converted into suspension points leading to banning. 2 suspension points lead to a player getting ban for one test or two T20s or 2ODIs, whichever comes first.
