According to reports, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl was brutally murdered in Aligarh, UP. The incident occurred in the Tappal area. The body of the minor was found buried in the ground and the minor had gone missing on May 31.
As details of the heinous Aligarh minor murder crime unraveled, several Bollywood celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Anupam Kher among others took to social media to condemn the crime and demand justice for the two-and-a-half-year-old girl.
Sonam, who last starred in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga also took to social media and condemned the act.
Sonam tweet-, ”What has happened to baby twinkle is. Heartbreaking and horrific. I pray for her and her family. I also request people, to not make this into a selfish agenda. This is a little girl of age 3’s death, not a reason to spread your hate”. Her tweet grabbed eyeballs for all the wrong reasons, as Netizens the actress for being insensitive on a critical subject.
A troll tweet, “You maligned an entire religion and scavenged on a kid’s death to generate publicity for your movie. Hurts when the shoe is on the other foot right?”
Soon after Sonam tweeted, Ashoke Pandit, filmmaker and the director of Indian Film & TV Directors Association (IFTDA) took to social media and responded to Sonam’s comment. Making a reference to Sonam’s tweet during another case, Ashoke tweeted, “U questioned d values of India by tweeting: I am Hindustan. I am ashamed. 8 years old gang-raped and murdered in ‘Devi’-sthaan Temple”.
In the same tweet, he commented on Sonam’s latest reaction and said, “And now you tweet saying “I urge Ppl to not make us into a selfish agenda” and added, “Why this disparity?”
On which Sonam responded saying, “Because I practice Hinduism and I believe in karma.”
Things escalated when Ashoke responded to Sonam’s tweet and questioned her as to why there’s a difference between the reactions in the two cases.
Sonam, however, kept her calm, thanked her for his opinions and added that she’s sure he has better things to do than to troll her.
