Reliance Jio Turns 2: Know What Happened during these two years

Reliance Jio is a company that has changed the way people look at the internet. 2 years back the internet prices were like 200 Rs for 1Gb 3G data for a month while the 4G was extra expensive. On 5th september 2016 Mukesh Amabani launched Jio but it was long before that that Jio started working.

It was the month of July and Jio had started selling the Lyf handsets along with free Jio sims that offered free 4g speed data. Many people including me also purchased the phone at Rs 3000. While the phone had just 512 Mb Ram there was no difficulty in running necessary apps like Whats app and many more.

In the month of July 2016 the data limit was 4 Gb per day.In the next month, Jio.com also went live with a host of apps including MyJio, JioChat, JioPlay, JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioMags, Jio Xpress News, JioDrive, JioJoin, JioMoney and JioSecurity.

After 2016 ended the offer still continued till March with 1 Gb per day.

After that, the Jio prime membership came and thats when hell broke loose.

Jio Prime service

On February 2017, Jio Prime service was launched for the existing Jio customers. By April 2017, Reliance Jio had gained a paid-subscriber base of 108.9 million users.

In the month of July same year, Reliance Industries Limited AGM, company’s latest Jio Phone was announced, with a claim to bring 4G to the masses at the lowest cost possible.

100 Million Subscriber Mark

Reliance Jio, riding on its cheaper tariff plans compared to its industry peers, hit 100 million subscriber-mark in the first 170 days of its launch. The company with 215 million subscribers targets to cover 50 percent of telecom market by 2020. Recently, the company said that it aims to achieve another 100 million in 15 months.

Reliance Jio’s standalone net profit increased 19.9 percent to Rs 612 crores for quarter ending 30 June, 2018, as against the preceding quarter.

Jio Phone 2

On August 15,2018 Jio phone 2 which had qwerty keypad was launched. Its been priced at Rs 2,999 and is selling on myjio.com and on the app in flash sales.

Thus here’s the full journey of Jio till now. The fans can’t thank Mukesh Ambani enough for what he has done to our internet industry. The calls are now free. We get atleast 1.5 Gb data per day at just Rs 199 a month which earlier just gave us 1 Gb net. After Jio there have been thousands and lakhs and crores of increase in people who use internet daily, all thanks to Jio.
