If you are a huge Jio fan you must know that Mukesh Ambani, after successfully capturing the telecom network market is now looking to make a huge entry into the local cable market. It is going to do it through the Jio Giga Fiber.
The question arises: What is Jio Giga Fiber?
Jio Giga Fiber is a Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) broadband service offered to the users via fixed lines. At the time of the commencement of the pilot programme, Jio has selected some locations that were feasible to deploy the FTTH services. The company, which completed two years this week, started accepting registrations for its broadband service from August 15. The Reliance company has currently made the services available in 900 cities and towns.
The Local Cable Operators (LCO’s) have shown resistance against the Jio Giga Fiber as after seeing the telecom companies devastated, they certainly don’t want to be competing with Mukesh Ambani.
So far, the company has not specified any date for commercial roll-out of the broadband service. However, speculations suggest that the company may roll out the service around Diwali this year, which falls on November 6.
Jio GiGa Fiber will roll out its own smart remote with voice support. Once plugged to the T.V., the set top box would be able to make video calls too.
As per the company the smart remote will be available in more than one languages. This it will support more than one languages.

Installation of Jio GigaFiber is free, however, reports claim that customers may have to pay a fixed security deposit. This is a classic Jio tactic but can’t complain as it would have costed them many thousand rupees to make the set top boxes.
There are no fixed prices but rumors are that the services would be available starting from 500Rs. The basic cost charged by current cable operators as per Jio is 700-1000Rs, thus they would provide the services at 50% less than the current market providers.
