How many times have you seen a smartphone launched 2-2.5 years ago get the latest Android update? Not many times. Even the Redmi 4 smartphone which was released in 2017 will not get the oreo update ( it hasn’t been announced until now) but one company has done it. The One Plus 3 and The One Plus 3T mobile phones released 14 June 2016 are supposed to get the Android P update directly skipping the Android oreo update.
The One Plus 3 smartphone released with a 5.5-inch AMOLED 1920×1080 screen, 820 Snapdragon, Adreno GPU 530 with 6 Gb Ram and 64 Gb storage and a 3000 Mah non-removable battery will get the update during early 2019.
Oxygen OS operations manager Gary C has also confirmed in the One Plus forum on July 30 that, after internal discussions and several meetings One Plus has decided to “focus our development resources on the Android P project, instead of upgrading the One Plus 3 and One Plus 3T device to Android 8.1, so we can offer more exciting features and improvements for our One Plus 3 and 3T users.”
One Plus has been working closely with Google on the Android P beta program and plans to make the Android P update available to the following devices; the One Plus 6, one Plus 5, one Plus 5T, One Plus 3 and 3T. They will be receiving the over-the-air software update in that order, though he neglected to specify when exactly.
Also along with the Android P project in the recent update, there also have been certain camera improvements and the latest Android Security patch, the Oxygen 5.0.4 update for One Plus 3 and 3T.
One Plus earlier this month released the final Oxygen OS open beta for the One Plus 3 and 3T. The Oxygen OS open beta said to bring improved search tags in App drawer, a ” New Installs” category in the app drawer, improved app list for hidden space and toolbox, optimised switching between front and rear camera etc.
To end, I would just say that there hasn’t been one instance where the One Plus company has lacked in providing its phone users to face upgrade problems. They not only bring new, improved and good quality mobile phones but also don’t forget about the previously released ones.
