Marvel’s TV series have always been a fan favorite ranging from the cinematically iconic Daredevil to the innovative Jessica Jones. Now, Marvel has taken the decision to come out with a TV series with the most beloved villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Loki.
Tom Hiddleston has been successful in avoiding the most basic criticism that has been thrown at Marvel, that is, its villains are lame. He has been successful in giving us a villain who is charming, deep, smart and apparently unkillable. But this Loki will be different from the Loki we saw die in Endgame. This one is the Loki who escaped with the Tesseract during the time travel arc. So, you can expect to see a much less matured and yet evil Loki.
And that will ensure many complexities. As we will see Loki backtrack all the events in his life. But then again, the timeline theory of Marvel is inconsistent. It was explained by the Ancient One to Banner. She stated that different events create different timelines, totally separate from one another. Thus, the act of bringing the time stone back to our present would not change our past. But this is disproved by Captain America as he goes back in time. We see him in our present as an old man. Not in anyone else’s timeline but in our own, thus disproving that theory.
We do not yet know how Marvel will go about this issue. The possibility of adding time travel always remains. But it is highly likely that it will not be a part of the show. Loki is one of four live-action Marvel series in the works at Disney+, aside from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, starring Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, and Daniel Brühl; WandaVision, starring Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Teyonah Parris; and Hawkeye, starring Jeremy Renner.
