Ways To Keep your Eyes Healthy

Since we cannot change reality, let us change the eyes which see reality. In a world where our encounter with technology is inescapable, a major question arises that how we protect our eyes from this exposure. Where technology increases our metal vision exponentially, we lose our eye vision because of the same.

Today, it is a normal habit to bring your phone and other personal devices with you to bed. However, having direct exposure to the blue light that is transmitted by LED devices can end up really damaging the retina. The blue light from the screens can reach deeper into the eye than UV light, which is why retina damage is a result.

Another problem that can come from extended or constant exposure to screens is Computer Vision Syndrome. The term, CVS, was initially used in the context of those who worked in offices and spent most of their day in front of a computer. Now, the symptoms that are associated with CVS have increased, affecting millions of people, regardless of whether or not they have an office job. Symptoms of CVS can include: Headaches, Dry eyes, Blurred vision, Light sensitivity, Eye strain, Itchy or watery eyes. There is one more unusual side effect of technology.

When your brain is focused on what is on a screen, you can forget to blink, which can decrease your blinks per minute to a small seven to eight blinks. One of the most common negative effects of overexposing your eyes to digital devices and screens are headaches. This is due to the connection between the eyes and the brain.

When you stare at a screen for an extended period of time, eyestrain can occur and lead to a painful tension headache. And the ultimate result of all these things is sight loss. Also it is both an astonishing and hilarious fact that now a days people are actually paying for seeing things. Therefore, in this article I would like to shift the focus from just problems to some really good and easy ways to keep your eyes healthy.

  • Keep your eyes hydrated: It is imperative to keep your eyes hydrated in order to protect your eye sight. Without adequate moisture, your eyes become dry and uncomfortable. Dry eye can occur for a variety of reasons. As you age, you produce fewer tears, and the tears you do produce may not have the optimum balance of water, oil and mucus. Wearing contact lenses can sometimes cause the problem, particularly if you wear them for longer periods then recommended. So in order to keep them hydrated use good eye drops. Also, Remember to blink when you use your computer, read, or play video games. Take a break at least every hour to prevent dry eyes.Image result for hydrated eyes

But eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, particularly dark leafy greens such as spinach, kale, or collard greens is important for keeping your eyes healthy, too.i Research has also shown there are eye health benefits from eating fish high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, tuna, and halibut. Hence it is one of the best ways to keep your eyes healthy.Image result for eat right to protect eye sight

  • Quit smoking or never start: Smoking is as bad for your eyes as it is for the rest of your body. • Be cool and wear your shades: Sunglasses are a great fashion accessory, but their most important job is to protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. When purchasing sunglasses, look for ones that block out 99 to 100 percent of both UV-A and UV-B radiation.Image result for wear shades

  • Give your eyes a rest: If you spend a lot of time at the computer or focusing on any one thing, you sometimes forget to blink and your eyes can get fatigued. Try the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. This can help reduce eyestrain.Image result for give eyes rest
