India loses 4th test match: At the beginning of the Southampton test it appeared as if India had a pretty good hand in the match but disappointing performances by the batsmen except the captain and vice-captain led to again yet another loss in the series. With this loss, India is now 3-1 and has no chance of winning the series.

At the beginning of the 4th day of the Southampton test match, England had 2 wickets left which our super bowlers took by just conceding 11 runs. At that point, the bigger hand was on the Indian side yet still the batsmen proved it all wrong.

It was Sunil Gavaskar who said earlier that chasing any total in the 4th innings isn’t going to be easy at all. Well, this actually happened when the opening order completely failed against the England pacers.

K.L Rahul lost his wicket at a duck and Shikhar Dhawan scored just 17 runs before losing his wicket. He is yet to score a 50 in this test series. Pujara who scored a hundred runs in the first innings lost his wicket easily at a cheap score of just 5 runs.

It was then that Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane entered the field and took care of things for a little bit of time. Virat who was playing at 58 lost his wicket to Moeen Ali before tea. All hopes depended on Ajinkya Rahane who couldn’t take the pressure and succumbed at 51 right after tea. Then it was fall of wickets so quick that India didn’t even reach 200 runs and before that were bowled out. England won the match by 60 runs and also took home the series.

Moeen Ali changed the match

Without a doubt, it can be said that it was Moeen Ali’s fantastic bowling in the 1st and 2nd inning that helped England win the match. If not for him England might not have been able to win the match. He bowled the Captain-vice captain pair out of the match and that is what helped England the most.

Now as the series has been lost it doesn’t matter much if India wins or not wins the last match but a win might be able to cheer the company up for the upcoming Asia cup.
