The zone A match of the Pro Kabaddi league 2018 between Delhi Dabang and Gujrat Fortune grants ended in a draw. In a battle of youth against experience, both teams played well but it felt like a loss to Gujrat fortune giants as they lost their lead in the last couple of minutes. It was the first game of the season for the Delhi Dabang and they took the challenge head-on and ended the match with a tie of 32-32.

Delhi Dabang had a strong defence led by captain Joginder Narwal to combat a Gujarat side that boasted of one of the best defences in the game last season. Naveen Kumar got the first point for Delhi with a great touch. Gujarat returned the favour with a two-point raid. Gujrat Fortune grants did not have to hustle to score against Delhi. Having lost the last season’s final to Patna Pirates, Delhi Dabang was more careful with its raids having scored quite a lead on Gujrat in the opening minutes. The Delhi defence quartet of Joginder Narwal, Vishal Mane, Ravinder Pahal and Viraj Vishnu Landge have a combined 425 tackle points amongst themselves while Gujarat’s Sunil Kumar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Hadi Oshtorak and Sachin Vittala have just 165 tackle points between them, which gives the experienced Delhi defence a huge edge.

A mistake by Prapanjan gave a point to Delhi as the match headed into the business end of the game. Gujrat and Delhi both evenly matched in the second half and continued to add on more points to their tally. However, it was Chandran Ranjit who turned it around for Dabang Delhi with his phenomenal performance. The match was now levelled with 29-29. The match ended in a tie with a scoreboard of 32-32. It was a comprehensive performance by Delhi Dabang.
In the first match of the day, Telugu Titans won the match against Tamil Thalaivas with a score of 33-28. The next matches will be held between Mumbai and Jaipur and between Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru.
