Lenovo group Vice President Chang Cheng mentioned on Weibo that the company could launch the world’s first 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 855soC chipset in it. For your kind information, it was also announced the last June that Lenovo might be the first to develop a phone with 4 Tb of internal storage in it. While that could certainly be true as in the 90s era computers came with just Mb’s of memory and Gb’s was just a dream, thus nothing’s impossible.

World’s first 5G smartphone

Now again the Lenovo vice president is back with a new claim. He also mentioned that the device could come with some major technology leadership patent number. However, he hasn’t revealed any other information yet. All the smartphone manufacturers and mobile network companies are working hard to provide first ever 5G smartphone and faster 5G connectivity. On the other hand, Huawei is rumoured to debut its first ever 5G smartphone before June 2019. We mentioned earlier that Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro could be the first ever device which will be powered by the Huawei Kirin 980 SoC which will be based on 7nm FinFET process with Cambrian NPU. So, if seen properly the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will perform better than the snapdragon 845soC. After the incoming of the 5G network, the competition will be getting hard in the smartphone industry in terms of specifications and price tag.

5G Technology in brief

There is certainly going to be a full explaining about the 5G technology. Until then here is what we found. The 5G technology will be the successor to the 4G LTE. 4G is the fourth generation of the broadband mobile wireless network technology. The 5G base connectivity stations are expected to offer up to 20 Gbps download and 10 Gbps of upload speeds. So it is very clear that the 5G will be much faster and way better than the current 4G connection speed.

In terms of the 5G users, the expected download speed will be around 100 Mbps and upload speed of 50 Mbps on the compatible devices. Apart from that, the maximum Latency time rate of 5G base stations will be around 4 ms. Latency means ‘the delay before a transfer of data begins following an instructions for its transfer’. In India, BSNL telecommunication company claims to roll out the 5G network by early 2020. Let’s see how that works out.

Only time will tell if Lenovo will be the first company to build a 5G smartphone with Snapdragon 855soC
