With Bollywood going the unusual phase, here’s Karan Johar doing the unusual with a Horror Movie. Directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh, Bhoot: The Haunted Ship is the latest installment in ‘Bollywood’ Horror Movies. The movie starts with Prithvi(Vicky Kaushal) hallucinating and remembering his wife and daughter, whom he lost in a tragic accident. Vicky Kaushal’s Prithvi is assigned as an investigating officer of a ship(Sea Bird) that showed out of nowhere on the seashore of Mumbai. Prithvi is a character who just wants to be everywhere he’s needed, maybe because of the guilt of not being able to save his wife and Daughter. After being assigned to the Ship as an investigating officer, Vicky Kaushal gradually finds out that the ship is haunted. The second half is about finding the source of the Horror and what unfolds while doing so.

Any Horror movie’s soul lies in the CG and Makeup of Character, Bhoot: The Haunted Ship seriously lacks here. Many times the backgrounds made with the help of CG feels so CG that it’s not good to look at. The makeup of Ghosts is Average and is not appealing at all. It’s so bad that the horror you were feeling before the main ghost shows up turns into humor. The ghosts are definitely not very scary and are laughable most of the time.

Cinematography is a part where Bhoot: The Haunted Ship excels. The scenes are shot in such a way that they’re both intimidating and haunting at times.

The soundtrack of Bhoot: The Haunted Ship is very eerie and it fills the gap where CG and Makeup are failing. The soundtrack is so appealing and it feels so into the place that it definitely scares you.

Vicky Kaushal’s Prithvi is a character that’ll look realistic to the audience. Vicky has excelled when it comes to Acting. He has lived the character of Prithvi so well filling it with emotions and guilt a father and a husband carries after losing ones loved ones.

Bhumi Pednekar’s screen time is very limited but she has done a fabulous job at doing it.

Ashutosh Rana acts as an Expert of Paranormal Activities and Ghosts.

All considered while Vicky Kaushal has done a fabulous job while playing the Character of Prithvi, Bhoot: The Haunted Ship is not a Scare fest and will not scare most of the Adult Audience. I’ve also gone to the movie to see if Bollywood has evolved itself in terms of CG and Makeup considering a Horror Movie only to return with disappointment.
